Why
Why we want basic income in Sweden
By introducing basic income, we can live up to the UN Convention on Human Rights and create a safer and more equal society where human value is not measured economically, but gives each individual the right and opportunity to share the resources available. Research shows that basic income would have enormous positive effects in many parts of our society.
Base income and sparsely populated areas
The rural areas are being depopulated at high rates, and it is a problem for both the regions and the whole country. Many smaller municipalities are struggling with increasing unemployment, high sick leave and a youth generation that moves out but not back. Declining population leads to negative consequences for both municipal services and business sectors; small stores are forced to close, bank offices are closed down, and the towns are finding it increasingly difficult to attract people. The key to reversing this trend lies with the small business owners. With financial security in the form of basic income combined with reduced bureaucracy in the start-up phase, smaller societies can become attractive to new businesses. A good opportunity for Swedish pilot projects with basic income may be to focus on rural areas to stimulate small businesses.

Basic income and work-related stress
Many in Sweden and in the world struggle with jobs that they feel are not meaningful. Our society is characterized by the fact that "everyone has to work", despite often great anxiety and stress. Those who for various reasons cannot work, are forced to put all available energy solely on surviving / running around and "showing up" at the employment office and more. With basic income, we believe that people will get the breathing room they need to find a job that is beneficial and that they believe in. Research shows that the introduction of basic income would lead to a more prosperous and meaningful productive society for all.
Basic income and entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship is important for Sweden. Starting a business and realizing an idea is a process that requires both a lot of time and hard work, and it often takes many years before a company turns profitable. Basic income can here serve as a means of creating security during the process, by covering the most basic needs during the start-up period. We believe that basic income in this way is also positive for Sweden's economy in the long term.
